Endless Sushi?

We’re foodies. We love trying food that are native to other countries. I remember when the kids were young, Panda was 5 and Spud wasn’t even 3, we took them to Disneyworld. On the forums I was following to plan our trip, people would say they couldn’t go to any of the international places because their kids wouldn’t eat anything. My kids were fine as long as it was meat and starch…no veggies. We ate at Ohana’s, we ate Italian food, we had pad thai in Tomorrowland. They even ate lamb shank and couscous at Marrakesh in Epcot.

When Spud was about a year old, I started leaving eating utensils on his highchair tray. Spoon, fork,….and…chopsticks. He figured out how to use those chopsticks by the time he was 18 months and has never looked back.

Point is, my kids like food, and lots of it. Going out to eat with them is not cheap, especially when they want sushi.

We were excited to learn that there was a restaurant not too far away that claimed to have endless sushi. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. We decided we had to check them out. Then they closed. To move down the street to another building. They didn’t reopen for about 6 months! We kept watching the new building and their Facebook page. We were excited when they finally got to reopen their doors.

The new restaurant is beautiful. Lots of great woodwork and Japanese art on the walls. They have a separate section that they do teppanyaki in. You know, where you sit at the grill and the chef comes out and puts on a show and cooks your dinner? Not my thing but it is entertaining.

On the side we were on there was a big sushi bar in the center of the room. It was exciting to see all the fish and other seafood they had ready for the sushi orders. Our server, Mattias, was amazing. You’ll be a lucky ducky if you get him while he’s working.

We tried most of the appetizers. I would not get them again, but then I don’t eat much anymore so I’m picky about what I do eat. The kids said there were some they would absolutely get again.

The sushi was made to order. Everything was fresh and tasty. There is something for everyone. Spud really likes the fancy rolls and he was very happy with all but the spicy tuna. He doesn’t like spicy so that was his only issue with that. I, on the other hand, like my sushi simple. I don’t care for all the mayo and sauces. I was perfectly happy with the tekka maki, salmon roll, spicy tuna and spicy salmon. Panda loved everything.

It was a great value. It saved us so much. We can’t wait to go back. This time, we’re doing lunch because it has the 4 rolls I like, enough stuff the kids will be happy with and it’s $7 less per person. My mouth is watering already.
